Hi there, welcome!

My name is Samantha Sutherland, owner of Petit Images. I’ve been photographing in some capacity since I received my first point-and-shoot camera in 2009. I started taking it a little more seriously around 2016.

I first became interested in photography as a teen, when I was encouraged to explore it as a new creative outlet. I was always interested in art and at the time was feeling uninspired in my pursuit of painting and fine art. Once I picked up a DSLR and started shooting, it became an immediate passion. I now, rarely leave my home without a camera.

I started photographing the beautiful nature that surrounded my hometown, nestled in the heart of the Mount Washington Valley of northern New Hampshire. At the age of 23 I moved out west to southern California, where I fell into fashion and music photography. That’s when I learned I truly love portraiture and started collaborating with other creatives to capture some ethereal, story telling images.

While I loved California I grew homesick for the four seasons and lush forests of New England. So we (My husband/2nd shooter, Mike) moved back to New Hampshire. Upon our return, we started photographing family and friends and it spiraled from there.

I love having the ability to freeze time in a photograph, or capture something others might not have seen or appreciated the same way. My style, as you will see, utilizes a wide range of vivid colors with deep contrast and soft highlights.

I would love to work with you! Please don’t be shy to contact me with any inquiries.

Thanks for stopping by.

- Sam
